Direct Claims Status (DCS) Frequently Asked Questions
What is DCS?
Direct Claim Status is awarded on a qualification basis. Direct Claim Status is a method by which you can claim for your learners’ certificates when you are ready and are satisfied your learners have fully met the qualification criteria.
What is the criteria for DCS?
- Successful delivery of the qualification
- Two consecutive external verification report forms with no action points for the centre
- Centre considered to be a low risk to Ascentis
The centre Internal Verifier completes internal verification and completes mark sheets for the relevant learners. The External Verifier still visits the centre.
Why is DCS beneficial to me?
DCS is beneficial as it means you do not need to wait until a verifier visits to claim your learners’ qualifications. You can claim as soon as your learners have completed and you are satisfied they have met all the criteria of the qualification. This is great for short qualifications or roll-on roll-off modes of delivery. The added benefit of the verifier visiting the centre is that you still receive all the support and guidance you expect from an Ascentis verifier.
How long do I need to keep portfolios for once my learners have completed?
You should keep any completed portfolios until the external verifiers’ next visit, as they will wish to see a sample of the completed portfolios.
Do I need to keep all portfolios?
Yes. The verifier will choose a sample on the day of the visit.
How is certification claimed?
By completion of the mark sheets by the Internal Verifier and return to Ascentis.
Where do I get the mark sheets?
Mark sheets can be downloaded from Rhombus once you have registered your learners via Rhombus and the registrations have been processed by Ascentis.
Who do I send the mark sheets to?
They should be sent to the Quality Assurance team at Ascentis.
