Community Interpreting
Britain is now a multi-lingual society, but there are still members of some communities who have a limited grasp of spoken English. These individuals rely on others to help them overcome linguistic barriers in everyday situations.
Ascentis has developed a suite of qualifications to meet this need.
Level 1 Award in Understanding Community Interpreting
The Level 1 Award is aimed at learners who are new to the subject and wish to learn a little about what is involved in being a Community Interpreter.
The unique features of the qualification include:
- It allows learners to learn about the role of a Community Interpreter
- Learners can start to explore the Public and Voluntary Sectors
- Unit certification is available for each unit.
The Level 3 Certificate is based on the National Occupational Standards. It is aimed at learners who wish to undertake interpreting work at a basic level of two-way communicating.
The qualification consists of six units – four mandatory and two taken from two optional areas.
The unique features of the qualification include:
- It has a balance of practical and theoretical units
- The two-way interpreting unit can be taken at Level 3 or Level4
- Learners have a choice of seven specialist sectors to study
- Unit certification is available for each unit.
