Closing Thoughts from NATECLA 2025: Recognising the Everyday Impact of ESOL Teachers
Ascentis was proud to be the main sponsor for the NATECLA Annual Conference 2025 once again, helping mark 50 years of Ascentis. The event brought together delegates and like-minded ESOL and English Language Teaching (ELT) professionals at Conference Aston in Birmingham for a weekend of inspiring talks, interactive workshops, and thought-provoking discussions.
A captivating workshop led earlier in the day by Sam Shepherd, inspired the engaging closing plenary hosted by our ESOL Product Development Managers, Matthew Corbett & Saara Raasu. The session rounded up delegates’ key takeaways highlighting the strong relationship between ESOL professionals, collaboration and the wider learning community.
To capture the thoughts and feelings of delegates, Matthew and Saara facilitated a final activity. They invited attendees to reflect on what key takeaways they want to share with learners, colleagues, and their wider organisations. The responses were then gathered and visualised in the word clouds below to reflect the collective voice of the ESOL community and its ongoing impact.
Emily Bryson, ELT specialist, brought the session to life with a captivating sketchnote that visualises the key takeaways from the session. It serves as both a fantastic summary and a useful point of reference for delegates and the wider ESOL community.
We are proud to be partners with NATECLA, with whom we share a mutual commitment to supporting the ESOL community and putting learners at the heart of everything we do. Thank you to NATECLA for hosting such a fantastic event!
