It is important, now more than ever, that people know how to maintain their mental health and well-being, how to spot signs that they might be struggling and where to go for help if they need it.

Mental Health and Nature
Spending time in nature and being connected to nature is good for our mental health and stress management. At Ascentis, we have qualifications that promote mental health through maintaining a healthy lifestyle and enjoying the great outdoors. These include:
Entry 3 Award in Healthy Living for Well-being and Mental Health Short Online Qualification
The aims of this qualification are to enable learners to understand:
- the importance of healthy living & healthy eating
- the importance of mental health
- the principles of physical activity for health
Level 3 Certificate in Meditation Teaching
This qualification is designed to train teachers on meditation so that they can lead meditation sessions in line with the principles of the British School of Meditation.
The aims of this qualification are to enable learners to:
- understand the benefits of meditation
- understand meditation techniques
- lead meditation sessions
- set up a business in line with the British School of Meditation
Wellness Action Plans
Wellness Actions Plans are an effective tool to support mental health for both learners and staff. These can include:
- triggers that can negatively impact the individual’s mental health and ways the individual can be supported with these
- any early warning signs that indicate the individual could be struggling
- what has or hasn’t helped the individual’s mental health in the past
The mental health charity Mind has a Wellness Action Plan template that you may find useful, and they provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Our Level 2 Award in Mental Health & Well-Being qualification also explores Wellness Action Plans.
Qualifications to Support Mental Health and Build Resilience
Level 1 Award in Managing Uncertainty and Self-Resilience for Employment Employability Qualification
The aims of this qualification are to:
- know the effects of change, uncertainty and stress on self and others
- know how to manage self during times of uncertainty and change
- understand transferable skills and employability
- understand how mindfulness and other techniques can be used to create calm and resilience to lessen stress and anxiety in work and life
Level 2 Award in Mental Health & Well-Being Online Enrichment Qualification
This qualification contains online resources that provide learners with an understanding of how to manage their mental health as they progress onto further study, work and through life. As learners work through the online resources they complete a workbook where they have the opportunity to explore their own understanding of mental health and Wellness Action Plans, which ensures the knowledge is embedded and retained.
This qualification can be used in a number of ways, including:
- as part of a wider study programme where learners seek to become Mental Health First Aiders
- as an introduction to recognising and responding effectively to signs of mental health problems
- as a stepping stone to further education or employment in this area
Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness Vocational Qualification
The aims of this qualification are to enable learners to understand:
- the nine specified mental health conditions
- how to respond to the nine specified mental health conditions
- relevant terms used within the field of mental health
- how the nine specified mental health conditions can be managed
Level 1 Award in Mental Health & Well-Being Short Online Qualification
The aims of this qualification are to enable learners to:
- understand different mental health conditions and treatment
- know how to find support for mental health conditions
- know how to look after their own mental health and well-being
These one-unit qualifications introduce learners to what is meant by the terms ‘resilience’ and ‘grit’ and how they can be used to support own behaviour and character.
The aims of the qualifications are to enable learners to:
- Understand the importance of resilience
- Know how to develop resilience
- Understand the importance of grit
The Ascentis Level 2 Award in Developing Therapeutic Skills is aimed at individuals who have little or no prior knowledge or experience of applying therapeutic skills, providing them with an understanding of personality, basic needs, the main therapeutic approaches and safe working practices.
The main purpose of the Ascentis Level 3 Certificate in Applied Therapeutic Skills is to support professional competence in supporting vulnerable children, young people and adults to bring about social, emotional and behavioural changes, so that they can maximise their individual potential.
Level 1 Award in Personal Health and Well-Being Short Online Qualification
This qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills to enable them to make balanced and informed choices about their life, both now and in the future, and to develop confidence in their own abilities.
After completing this qualification learners will understand:
- the importance of a healthy lifestyle
- sex and relationships
- ways of building confidence and self-esteem
- the impact of body image
Level 3 Mental Health and Wellbeing Access to HE Diploma
This qualification encourages learners to explore and develop their understanding of the fundamentals of health and well-being, in relation to physiology, psychology, and sociology. The units build awareness of what mental health is and how to be more empathetic and supportive of people experiencing mental ill-health concerns.
