Young Learners from Mucky Pups Discover Careers at Ascentis Head Office

A group of eager young learners from Mucky Pups Nursery in Lancaster recently visited Ascentis, where they had the opportunity to explore various work roles and gain hands-on experience in a professional environment. This visit was part of an educational initiative designed to spark interest in careers and inspire a love for learning.

Guided by Saara from Ascentis, the children got a full tour, including a peek into the “Harry Potter Room,” a cozy space for relaxation. They then took their seats in the Board Room for an “important meeting,” where they discussed ideas. The children also enjoyed playing maths games on the big screen and were thrilled to take a spin on the Celebration Station wheel. Throughout the day, the children drew connections between Ascentis’ office and their own daily routines at Mucky Pups. They practiced entering the building safely and noted the recycling stations, which mirrored their lessons on sustainability at nursery. The visit also emphasised safe walking and listening skills, as they took turns speaking and listening in the Board Room, just as they do during group time at nursery. Learning about the role of managers also helped them understand how leaders guide and support others, similar to the role their teachers play.

The children loved pretending to be receptionists, welcoming each other as they explored different work areas. They were especially proud of the Ascentis post-its they received for spinning the Celebration Station wheel, which they later shared excitedly with friends and family. Steph Simpson, Deputy Manager at Mucky Pups, shared that the children couldn’t wait to talk about all they had learned during the visit.

Saara Raasu, Product Development Manager at Ascentis said “We are passionate about supporting people to reach their full potential through education, and it was wonderful to share that with the children. Visits like these align with what I value as a parent as well—giving children exposure to new experiences and inspiring them to discover their interests and passions.”

Ascentis is proud to support community outreach and early learning initiatives, creating meaningful opportunities for young children to connect with the world of work. We look forward to more collaborations that bring educational value and inspiration to future generations.
