Ascentis Level 2 Award in Carbon Awareness and the Impact of Climate Change
Qualification Overview
The Ascentis Level 2 Award in Carbon Awareness and the Impact of Climate Change provides learners with the knowledge and understanding to be able to make informed choices leading to positive actions which reduce their carbon footprint. An understanding of how climate change affects everyone will give learners the confidence to share their understanding and motivate others to do the same.
The qualification begins with the science of climate change, the role of greenhouse gases and the evidence of their link to atmospheric warming. Current and predicted environmental, social and economic impacts of climate change are covered. This leads to an understanding of the positive and negative effects of actions at individual, community, organisational, national and international levels.
There are several features of this qualification that make it very appropriate for its target learners:
- Assessment and certification can be offered throughout the year, allowing maximum flexibility for centres.
- Can be delivered either as a classroom-based course or as a blended learning programme.
- Assessments are offered through an online multiple-choice test that is designed to be taken at the end of the course. Assessments can only be requested as a paper-based assessment where required as a reasonable adjustment.
- There are online resources that can be used alongside the teaching.
