Qualification Overview

The Ascentis Certificate in Mental Health Awareness aims to introduce the learner to understanding and responding to various mental health disorders.

There are several features of this qualification that make it very appropriate for its target learners

• Assessment is ongoing through the building up of a portfolio of evidence, allowing flexibility in terms of the learner putting together evidence most appropriate to their learning situation
• Moderation and certification can be offered throughout the year, allowing maximum flexibility for centres

Aims

The aims of the qualification are to enable learners

• To understand the nine specified mental health conditions
• To understand how to respond to the nine specified mental health conditions
• To understand relevant terms used within the field of mental health
• To understand how the nine specified mental health conditions can be managed

Target Group

This qualification is aimed at staff, volunteers and carers who do not hold a professional qualification in mental health but are involved in the delivery of mental health services.

Assessment

All units are internally assessed through the learner building up a portfolio of evidence that covers the relevant assessment criteria, internally assessed and verified by the centre and then externally verified by Ascentis.
