Enhancing Digital in Education

Improving the availability of digital skills will help individuals and opens careers in interesting and sustainable jobs, as well as enabling adults to thrive in more traditional non-digital roles.

30% of skill-shortage vacancies involve a lack of basic digital skills (for example, Microsoft Office and use of digital applications) which are now required for a majority of occupations, traditional or otherwise. By making digital skills accessible to all adults, this will ensure that the existing workforce is upskilled and better equip to contribute to modern society and the economy.

The government have heavily invested into the UK Digital Strategy which sees the updating and introduction of a new suite of digital qualifications. These qualifications will equip adults with a full range of essential digital skills needed for life, work, and further study. For those learners who do not wish to access a discreet digital qualification, the introduction of digital embedding across a range of vocational and technical qualifications enables learners to acquire the digital skills within in a relevant and relatable context.
