Ascentis and Metaverse Learning Launch Immersive Access to HE Healthcare Resources

Ascentis has partnered with Metaverse Learning to launch a new suite of Access to Higher Education (HE) healthcare resources, enhanced through immersive learning technology. The resources are designed to support learners progressing into healthcare careers by providing a modern, practical, and engaging approach to preparation for higher education and professional practice.

Developed for aspiring nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, biomedical scientists, and other healthcare professionals, Ascentis’ healthcare-based Access to HE diplomas offer a proven progression pathway and support the development of the skills, confidence and sector knowledge required to meet workforce demands across the UK healthcare sector.

The immersive resources place learners within realistic healthcare scenarios, enabling interactive engagement with subject content such as the fundamentals of human anatomy and physiology. Learners are also supported in developing essential interpersonal and communication skills, alongside a clear understanding of safeguarding principles within health and social care contexts.

Immersive learning technology is particularly well suited to healthcare education, allowing learners to explore complex concepts, professional behaviours, and decision-making in a safe and supportive environment. This approach helps prepare students academically, practically, and emotionally for real-world healthcare settings.

Alex Houghton, Head of Commercial at Ascentis, said:

“Ascentis is committed to providing learners with innovative, high-quality resources that support them throughout their studies. By working in partnership with Metaverse Learning, we have developed unique immersive resources that enhance learner engagement across our Access to Higher Education qualifications. The inclusion of AI-driven features reflects our ongoing commitment to embracing technological advancements that benefit learners.”

The resources include bespoke virtual scenarios aligned to curriculum content, alongside interaction with an AI-driven avatar within a virtual reality healthcare setting. The avatar supports learning by guiding users, clarifying key concepts, and summarising content. Combined with options for self-directed learning, structured feedback, and classroom-based delivery, the resources represent a significant enhancement to existing Access to HE learning materials.

The suite of immersive healthcare resources includes:

  • Interpersonal Communication
  • Anatomy and Physiology of the Human Skeleton and Muscles
  • Principles of Safeguarding in Health and Social Care

Together, these resources provide a comprehensive and engaging foundation for learners preparing to progress into higher education and future careers in healthcare.
