Qualification Overview

This qualification focuses on introducing learners to online communications and lays the foundations for enabling social mobility using digital devices. Learners will be able to explore a range of digital communication methods and begin to build the skills needed to be able to read and reply to messages across a variety of platforms. Learners will also be introduced to the concept of social media. They will identify popular platforms and the types of media each platform uses. This qualification acts as a precursor to the: ‘Communicating’ skills statement take from the National Standards for Essential Digital Skills.

Aims

The aims of the qualification are to enable learners:

  • To identify methods of digital communications
  • To identify features of different types of digital communication
  • To read and respond to digital communication

Target Group

This qualification is aimed at a range of learners, including those who have had little interaction with digital equipment and resources, and learners who may have had little or no experience of formal learning.
