Liverpool City Region Improvement in Attainment
In March 2021, Liverpool City Region published that they are focused on enhancing education attainment levels; as a result of big declines in Employability and English & Maths pass rates. A particular objective for the region is to provide new opportunities to retrain or reskill as the number of people claiming unemployment benefits in Liverpool during the COVID-19 outbreak surpassed national averages.
Over half of learners do not achieve the expected education standard by the end of secondary education in the Liverpool City Region. These low achievement rates increase the usage and way in which further education is utilised both for learners and providers.
This increase in attainment rates for Employability and English & Maths will enable more learners to progress into employment, including Digital related jobs. The Technology sector is on average the highest paying sector in the Liverpool City Region and with the focus on flexible working. Digital Skills has never been as integral to employment opportunities.
