Community Interpreting Britain is now a multi-lingual society, but there are still members of some communities who have a limited grasp of spoken English. These individuals rely on others to help them overcome linguistic barriers in everyday situations, such as accessing education, health services, housing, justice, and other public services. Ascentis has developed a suite of qualifications to meet this need. Who are these qualifications for? These qualifications are aimed at learners who have an interest in learning about the role of an interpreter and working with different linguistic groups in the community. They are also for learners who wish to acquire qualifications to enable them to work towards becoming a Community Interpreter. There are no formal entry requirements for Levels 1 and 2. There is an expectation at Levels 3 and 4 that the learner will have developed language skills at Level 5 in their first language and Level 4 in English.
